White Cheddar Popcorn

Popcorn doesn’t have to come from the movie theater to be good. This version takes the classic butter-and-salt combo and adds a white cheddar kick. The result? White Cheddar Popcorn is, perhaps, the perfect snack! Budget friendly, fresh, and tasty, just my style!

This is the kind of quick, no-fuss snack anyone can throw together. Whether you’re using microwave popcorn, air-popped, or stovetop, all it takes is a couple minutes and a good shake. The melted butter helps the seasoning stick, coating every piece with cheesy goodness.

A Frugal Snack

Why make it? Because it’s one of the most budget-friendly snacks out there. A bag of popcorn is just a few dollars and can last for weeks to months, depending on how many mouths you’re feeding.

Skip the expensive pre-seasoned bags of popcorn. This homemade version is just as good, if not better and it is so much cheaper.

What You Need to Make This Recipe

You only need a few basic ingredients to make this snack. Choose your favorite method for popping the corn, and you’re halfway there.

  • prepared popcorn (already popped)
  • melted butter OR light olive oil in a spritz bottle
  • white cheddar popcorn seasoning

How to Change It Up

Any white cheddar seasoning works here, yes that is a one pound jar but it was simply to illustrate what we’re looking for here. Feel free to use any brand you can find locally. Hint: It’s typically stocked with the popcorn in the grocery stores.

We actually like to use light olive oil in the spritzer spray bottle instead of butter. It tastes great and it can be more evenly distributed with the sprayer.

This popcorn-making method with flavoring can be used with ranch seasoning, a dash of smoked paprika, or even a little garlic powder for extra flavor. Add a little drizzle of butter or, better yet, a spritz of light olive oil, add your seasoning, and toss to combine.

The type of popcorn is just as flexible—microwave, stovetop, or air-popped all work great. Make what works for you.

How to Store Leftovers

If there are any leftovers, keep them in an airtight container or resealable bag at room temperature. For the best crunch, eat it within a day or two. This popcorn is better enjoyed fresh!
