Heart Thumbprint Cookies
Heart Thumbprint Cookies are a fun, fresh way to bake something thoughtful without making things complicated. They’re easy enough for a casual baking day but still feel special, which makes them perfect for Valentine’s Day. If you want a cookie that looks like you planned ahead this year, this one does the job.

Thumbprint cookies are soft and lightly sweet with a tender crumb. The jam adds a bright fruity layer that balances the buttery cookie base. Every bite has a little contrast between the cookie and the filling, which keeps them from feeling heavy.

If you need a cookie that actually looks themed, this heart shaped cookie makes it easy. The heart shape and jam center make these feel perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Also consider making these for tea parties, birthday parties, or anytime you need to show someone you love them. I think if you paired them with these champagne cupcakes they would just be lovely for a shower, whether bridal or baby!

You can use any jam you like for the filling. Pink or red jams work especially well for Valentine’s Day, but a curd would work just as well!
Thumbprint cookies works just as well with homemade or store-bought jam in any flavor. Need a homemade strawberry jam recipe? Use mine! But if you like a little spice in jam, try this Strawberry Jalapeño Jam, it’s nice and not too spicy.

How To Store Thumbprint Cookies
Store jelly filled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you need them to last longer, refrigerate them and bring to room temperature before serving. If you plan to store them you may want to consider not filling them until just before serving.
You can freeze them unfilled as well. Simply freeze them on a baking sheet and slide the frozen cookies into a freezer container for longer storage. Thaw and fill as desired.
