Blackberry apple crisp combines tart blackberries and sweet apples with a golden, buttery oat topping. Warm, cozy, and perfect with a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 4 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F
  • Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish and set aside
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, blackberries, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice
  • Toss until the fruit is evenly coated

  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish
  • In another bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the crisp topping
  • Add the cold cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs

  • Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly, and the topping is golden brown
