Sinus Relief Bath Salts
You know those days when you’re just too stuffy and your head hurts from the pain of it all? These sinus relief bath salts are one of the best ways to get some natural relief in the shower or bath.

Use In The Bath Or Shower
I know these are bath salts, and you can bathe with them if you like. However, a lot of sinus relief oils are also hot oils. I don’t like to bathe in “hot oils(see below)” even when properly mixed with Epsom salts.
Instead, I plug up the shower sprinkle the salts in the hot water and breathe deeply while showering. If the oils mixed with Epsom salts don’t bother your skin, you should feel free to bathe in these salts.

A Quick Note On Hot Oils
Hot oils added directly to bath water sit on the water’s surface. If you add them this way and they directly contact the skin, you can potentially cause irritation or even chemical burns, especially in sensitive areas. Examples of “hot oils”
- Cinnamon bark
- Clove
- Lemongrass
- Ginger
- Thyme
- Peppermint
- Oregano
- Thieves Oil (typically cinnamon, eucalyptus, clove, lemon, and rosemary)
- Black pepper
Essential oils don’t dilute well in water. If you put them right in a bath they will float on top of the water. When you get in the tub the oils are right there on top where they make direct contact with your skin.
To safely use them in baths, you MUST mix them with a carrier like Epsom salts, a dispersing agent, or a neutral oil (such as almond or coconut oil) to spread them evenly and reduce their intensity.

These Oils Are Commonly Good For Sinus Relief
Many of the oils we commonly think of as good for sinus relief are also hot oils. But some are safe for most skin types, even those bothered by essential oils.
- Lavender
- Cedarwood
- Chamomile
- Frankincense
- Eucalyptus
My rule is that ANY oil I add to a bath is first added to epsom salts to help disperse them in the water. I feel they’re safest that way.
All This Is To Say
Use whichever oils work for you. I have to be careful, your skin may be hardier. Do what works for your skin.
