This braised cabbage cooks low and slow but takes almost no work, just one pan and a little time.

- 1 ¼ lbs cabbage cored and cut into ¼-inch slices
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ onion cut into ¼-inch slices
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 tsp salt
Cut the cabbage in half and remove the core
Slice the cabbage into ¼-inch slices
Place a skillet over medium heat and add the butter
Once the butter is melted, add the cabbage
Stir occasionally for 2 minutes
Add the onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes
Add the water, vinegar, sugar, caraway seeds, and salt to the skillet
Once the water is simmering, cover the skillet and reduce heat to low
Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20–25 minutes until the cabbage is tender
