Ingredients

Sugar Cookie Base

  • 1 1/2 cups salted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4 cups flour

Cinnamon Brown Sugar Topping

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 2 tbsp salted butter softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F
  • In a large bowl use a hand mixer to cream together the butter and sugars
    Sticks of butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar placed together in a glass mixing bowl.
  • Add the eggs vanilla and oil and mix well
    Creamed butter and sugar mixture with egg yolks cracked on top in a glass bowl.
  • Combine flour baking powder and cinnamon then add to the wet ingredients and mix until combined
    Flour, baking powder, and a mound of cinnamon sitting on top of the mixed wet ingredients before combining.
  • Use a 1/3 cup measuring cup to scoop the dough roll into balls and flatten slightly place 6 dough balls on a lined baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough
  • In a small bowl combine the brown sugar cinnamon and melted butter for the topping
    Brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter together in a bowl before being mixed.
  • Press about 1/2 tbsp of the topping mixture onto each cookie
    Unbaked cookie dough discs on a baking sheet topped with cinnamon-sugar mixture in the center.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes then allow cookies to cool on the tray
  • While cookies bake prepare the frosting
  • Mix the butter and cream cheese until smooth
    Softened butter beaten until fluffy in a glass mixing bowl.
  • Add powdered sugar slowly and continue mixing
    Creamed butter topped with powdered sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon before mixing.
  • Add vanilla and mix well
    Partially mixed frosting with vanilla extract pooling on the side, ready to blend.
  • If the frosting is too thick add a little milk to thin
  • Transfer frosting to a zip top bag and snip off the tip
  • Pipe a swirl over each cookie leaving space between the lines so the brown sugar topping shows through

  • For best results serve warm reheat in the microwave or air fryer

Notes

These cookies are oversized and stay soft thanks to the added oil and brown sugar
