Make a Paper Window Star

Also, sometimes called Waldorf Window Stars, these simple and pretty Paper Window Stars are lovely decorations kids and adults alike can make. From start to finish, you can make one of these paper stars in about 20 minutes, depending on your skill level and the amount of interruptions you suffer. What You Need To Make Window Stars

These call for “kite paper” which you can order or pick up at your local Waldorf Store. Here in Alaska, I would ask the Waldorf schools or Nature’s Nest if they carry it. And if you can’t find it, you can absolutely use tissue paper. The tissue paper stars will be less sturdy than waxed kite paper but still just as pretty.

• Kite Paper or tissue paper, use papers in colors you love
• glue stick
• a flat, clean area for folding the paper
• popsicle stick, optional only if you need or want sharp folds on your paper

Do You Need Sharp Folds?

Not really. If you want it to look very clean looking, a good sharp fold will get you there. But when you’re first starting out, using something to crease your paper sharply might not be a good idea.

The first time you make this or any origami piece, you’re going to make mistakes. If you super crease your paper you may do that on a mistake. And then your fold will look awful.

Choose Colors You Like

Kite paper comes in so many lovely colors you won’t have trouble finding a theme you like. I made this one is the colors of the rainbow you can mix and match any colors you like. Some of my favorite combinations are pink and orange, white and blue, and green and yellow.

Tissue Paper

If you need to use tissue paper you can use that too. The paper is much more fragile than waxey kite paper. It could pick up condensation on your windows or tear easily. But to start out and practice with tissue paper is fine!
